1. Focus the Laser Spot to the Minimum
First, adjust the laser light spot to the smallest possible position.
Test shoot to check the initial effect. Judge the focal length according to the size of the spot effect. When the laser spot reaches its minimum, this position is usually the best processing focal length. After confirming the optimal focal length, you can start formal processing.
2. Determine the Focal Length with Test Paper or Scrap Material
Before formal debugging, you can use debugging paper or workpiece scrap to test and confirm the accuracy of the focal length position.
Move the laser head up and down to adjust its height. The laser spot size will change at different heights. Make multiple adjustments at different positions to find the smallest spot position, so as to determine the correct focal length and the optimal laser head position.
3. Check Accuracy Through Simulated Cutting Graphics
After the laser cutting machine is installed, a marking device is usually installed at the cutting nozzle of the CNC cutting machine. You can use the marking device to draw a simulated cutting graphic for accuracy inspection.

After the marking is completed, use a measuring tool to check the following items:
- Whether the circle is tangent to the four sides of the square
- Whether the diagonal length of the square is about 1.41 meters
- Whether the central axis of the circle equally divides the square edges
- Whether the distance from the intersection point to both sides of the square is about 0.5 meters
By measuring the diagonal length, the circle tangency and the intersection distance, you can determine whether the cutting accuracy of the equipment is normal.
